Always remember to inspect the tip before use. Without a good soldering tip, it may become very difficult to solder any joints.
"The Sweet Spot"

Don't use the exact tip, use the side of the tip called "the sweet spot" it leads to less mistakes and better flow of the solder.
Pull solder and iron away at the same time

Always pull the soldering iron and solder away at the same time. If the solder is left there longer it may harden to the board and be hard to remove.
